ANGOLA, Ind. – The #11 Trine University Women's Basketball team wrapped up their MIAA Regular Season Championship with a 68-51 win over the Kalamazoo Hornets. This is Trine's sixth regular season championship and first unbeaten MIAA regular season since 2018-19. The win is Trine's 23^rd of the regular season, tied for the most in program history.
 
Katie Tate delivered an offensive clinic with 24 points and Sidney Wagner was spectacular on both ends of the floor with 20 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals.
 
Kalamazoo started strong, taking a 7-2 lead early in the first quarter, Erin Sherwood scored inside and Sidney Wagner made two trips to the free throw line and the Thunder erased the Hornet lead. Wagner converted on all 8 shots from the charity stripe for the day.
 
Trine led 18-12 entering the second quarter, their lead evaporated quickly with two K-Zoo triples. Kalamazoo regained the lead with two layups. Tate took it back for Trine with one of her own. Ultimately, Kalamazoo would take a 28-27 lead to the break.
 
Trine's second half dominance showed again, the Thunder own the sixth best second half scoring margin in the country. Today was no different, trailing by one entering the half, Trine outscored the Hornets 41-23 in the second half. Kalamazoo scored the first five of the half. Wagner, who played all 40 minutes, would score the next five and eight of Trine's next ten to reclaim the lead. The Hornets would regain the lead once more, but Allison Capouch's second three of the game would give Trine a final advantage.
 
Leading 49-45 entering the fourth quarter, Trine used a 19-6 fourth quarter scoring margin to put away the Hornets. An early stalemate was broken by a 10-0 Thunder run with 6 of the 10 coming from the free throw line. Tate then converted an and-one, she scored 12 of her 24 in the final frame. Trine's defense held the Hornets scoreless for over seven minutes of the final frame.
 
Trine will host the MIAA Semifinals and Finals next Friday and Saturday.
