Patterson’s Game-Winner Seals Lady Blues’ 70-68 Victory Over Lake Forest

LAKE FOREST, Ill.- With 14 seconds remaining, Jayln Patterson delivered a crucial and-one basket, lifting the team to a thrilling 70-68 victory over Lake Forest on Saturday afternoon at the Lake Forest College Sports and Recreation Center.

This win moves the Lady Blues to 10-14 (7-9 MWC) and Lake Forest falls to 4-19 (2-12 MWC).

The game opened with a back-and-forth battle in the first quarter, but Lake Forest gained momentum in the second, building a lead up to nine points. However, the Lady Blues responded with an 11-2 run, tying the game at 27-27 with four minutes left in the first half.

Lake Forest held a slim one-point advantage at halftime, but the Lady Blues came out strong in the third quarter, dominating with a 21-2 run to go up by as many as 12 with three minutes left in the period. The Foresters fought back, evening the score with five minutes to play. With one minute remaining, Peyton Davidson gave Lake Forest a one-point edge, but Jayln Patterson answered for the Lady Blues, scoring the game-winning basket with 14 seconds left to seal the victory. Patterson finished with 14 points in the win.

The Lady Blues tallied 40 bench points in the game, highlighted by McKenna Christiansen, who led the team with 17 points while shooting 4-of-6 from three-point range. Kaity Robison anchored the defense with a team-high four steals, while Jayln Patterson and Ashlyn Wightman each pulled down seven rebounds.
