Nazareth Dominates Utica to Earn 16th Win

Utica, NY - The Nazareth women's basketball team outscored Utica University 73-51 on Saturday afternoon to pull away with another win. Sophomore Sarina McDowell had a game-high 19 points and right behind her was sophomore Madalyn Kelly with a career-high 18 points. 
 
The Golden Flyers jump to 16-4 overall on the season and 10-1 in Empire 8 play. Utica drops 3-14 overall and 1-10 in league play. 
 
Nazareth got off to a quick start in the first quarter putting down 20 points to Utica's 5.
 
The second quarter looked the same for Nazareth. They dropped another 20 points while Utica added 13. 
 
The Golden Flyers had a 23-point advantage and held their largest lead in the third quarter at43-20.  
 
Although in the third quarter, the Pioneers outscored the Golden Flyers 19-15. Despite this, Nazareth went into the fourth quarter with a 55-37 lead.
 
Nazareth put up 18 more points in the fourth quarter to earn the 22-point victory. 
 
McDowell was 9-of-14 from the floor with a game-high nine rebounds and a pair of assists. Kelly was 7-of-12 from the floor, made four shots from behind the arc, one assist, and four steals.  
 
Molly Benetti and Katie MacLachlan each contributed 13 points. Kiara Anglin had six points. Madilann Johnson and Chianna Williams chipped in two points each. 
 
Nazareth travels to SUNY Brockport on Friday to compete at 7 p.m. in another Empire 8 matchup.
