Sophomore post Macy Miller posted a double-double as 14th/17th-ranked Ohio Wesleyan collected a 76-44 North Coast Athletic Conference win over Oberlin on Saturday at Branch Rickey Arena.
The visitors opened the game with back-to-back layups, but the early 4-point lead ended up being their largest of the game as the Bishops went on to dominate. A pair of layups by fifth-year guard Kasey Schipfer and senior post Karlee Ross in the paint, free throws from Miller and Schipfer, and 3-pointers from fifth-year guard Lauren Denison and senior guard Lauren Gerber built up their lead 20-11 to end the first period.
Ohio Wesleyan continued to build up the score, leading by double digits for the rest of the game. Homan and Denison each sank a pair of 3-pointers in the second quarter to help keep the Bishops' advantage. The Bishops went 8-for-8 on free throws in the first half with Schipfer, Miller, and junior guard Mia Guscoff sinking them.
An 8-0 run kicked off the second half with points from Miller, Schipfer, and Denison to make the score 57-28. Homan and senior guard Alayna McMullen scored the final points of the quarter to bring the Bishops to a 29-point lead.
Junior post Katie Neuhart subbed in to start the fourth and immediately scored back-to-back layups. A layup and free throw from junior guard Alexandria Magers ended the game with the Bishops leading by 32 points.
Denison led the scoring efforts with 16 while Schipfer followed with 14. Miller finished with 10 points, matched a career best with 15 rebounds, and led the Bishops with 5 assists. Homan added 9 points and 4 assists of her own.
