MEMPHIS - The Vikings, driven by Sylvia Kahoro's outstanding offensive prowess, claimed their fourth conference victory of the season, defeating Rhodes College 67-53 at Mallory Gymnasium in Memphis, Tenn. on Sunday afternoon.

In the first quarter clash between the Vikings (14-5, 4-2 SAA) and the Lynx (5-13, 3-3 SAA), Kahoro and the Vikings' season leading scorer Kenadie Lee collected 14 points, taking advantage of fast breaks and a weak defensive showing from the Lynx to drive a few easy layups. The Lynx out rebounded the Vikings 8-3 in the first, but they managed to convert their defensive efforts into points only once. Kahoro capped off the quarter with a dramatic deep three-pointer as the shot clock expired, emerging with a narrow 19-14 lead.

The Vikings extended their lead to 36-28 by halftime. Less than 30 seconds into the second quarter, Berry's Karlee Armstrong drove a layup for two points to begin a flood of Berry scoring. Amidst their efforts, Kahoro and Lee became the first players in Memphis to reach double digits in scoring on the day. Berry obtained a 10-point lead with 15 seconds left in the quarter, but a lackadaisical defensive effort after a Lee layup allowed the Lynx to secure a fast break and score, entering the half with a single digit lead.

Berry's Briaiah Lewis was crucial in the third quarter as the Vikings managed to outscore the Lynx 25-14. Six of Lewis' 12 points on the day appeared in the final minutes of the third. One of Berry's most efficient players, Lewis acquired two of her six steals in this quarter. The navy and white team sat comfortably with a 61-42 advantage waltzing into the fourth quarter.

In the final quarter, Rhodes made an effort to close the large gap, ultimately outscoring the Vikings 11-6 by capitalizing on Berry turnovers. However, the commanding lead Berry established in the first three quarters ensured their triumph 67-53.

Kahoro and Lee led the Vikings' offense with 21 and 20 points, respectively. Lewis commanded the defense with a team leading six rebounds and two blocks.

The Vikings will be back in action on Friday at the Cage Center as they take on conference foe Hendrix College. Tip off will begin at 6:00 p.m.
