Sophomore post Macy Miller scored 6 points and fifth-year guard Kasey Schipfer added 4 points as 14th/17th-ranked Ohio Wesleyan opened the fourth quarter with a 10-2 run, and fifth-year guard Lauren Denison set 2 Battling Bishop career records in a 68-56 North Coast Athletic Conference win over DePauw on Wednesday in Greencastle, Ind.
The win gave the Bishops sole possession of first place in the NCAC with a 6-0 record.
Fifth-year point guard Elizabeth Homan beat the first-quarter buzzer with a 3-pointer to give the Bishops a 26-21 lead after a back-and-forth first period, but DePauw pulled even at 30 on a pair of free throws by Riley Mont with 3:40 remaining.
Schipfer followed with a pair of hoops to help Ohio Wesleyan to a 36-33 lead at the intermission, and later tallied back-to-back buckets to stretch the margin to 46-38 midway through the third period.
DePauw closed out the quarter with a 5-0 run on pair of free throws from Olivia Hart and a 3-pointer by Lily Huntzinger, pulling to within 48-46 heading into the fourth quarter.
Miller knocked down a pair of jumpers to open the fourth-period scoring, and Schipfer followed with a basket to extend the lead to 54-46. Ainsley Boras hit a jumper for DePauw, but Miller and Schipfer answered with jumpers for a 58-48 lead midway through the period.
The Tigers rallied with a 3-pointer from Moira McGinley and 2 more Mont free throws, but a 6-0 burst that included jumpers by Schipfer and Homan and a pair of free throws from Miller pushed the Bishop lead back into double digits with less than 2 minutes remaining.
Schipfer led the Bishops with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Homan finished with a season-high 15 points and Miller contributed 14 points.
Denison played in her 114th straight game as a Battling Bishop, breaking the Ohio Wesleyan records of 113 games played and 113 consecutive games played set by Anissa Haynes from 1998-2001.
