EWING, N.J. – The William Paterson women's basketball team (12-5, 8-2 NJAC) dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) road game to The College of New Jersey (12-5, 8-2 NJAC) Jan. 22.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- With senior Brianna Smith pacing the Pioneers offensively with 12 of their 14 points in the third quarter, WP pulled within seven (48-41) of the Lions heading into the final frame.
- TCNJ opened the fourth quarter by knocking down five of their first seven shot attempts to go on a 14-3 run and extend its advantage to 18 (62-44) with 5:01 on the clock.
- Despite countering with a 9-3 run, WP could not come from behind and ultimately fell on the road, 69-54.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Smith scored a season-high 30 points.
- It's the third time in her career that she reached the 30-point mark in a game.
- Junior Renee Wells had nine points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists.
- Junior Patty Walsh corralled a game-high nine boards to go with four points and a steal.
