(BEREA, Ohio) – The 19th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team competed in the Baldwin Wallace University Invitational championship game on Monday, December 30 against 20th-ranked Baldwin Wallace. The hosts rallied in the second half to top the Tartans, 70-51, for the Tartans first loss of the season while the Yellow Jackets moved to 9-1.
Inside the Box Score
- An evenly played first quarter saw the Yellow Jackets lead by two after they scored a layup for the last basket of the frame with 18 seconds to go.
- Senior Isha Nambisan led the Tartans in the first quarter with five points and drained a three-pointer that gave the Tartans their largest lead of the quarter at four points, 9-5, with 6:38 to go.
- In the first five minutes of the second quarter the Tartans went on a scoring streak. This included five points from senior Catherine Or and four from senior Anisha Chintala who scored back-to-back layups to close an 11-0 run.
- The Yellow Jackets cut the deficit to three in the last minute of the half before a layup at the buzzer by Or gave the Tartans a 29-24 lead.
- Baldwin Wallace found its stroke from distance with the first five made buckets of the third quarter for the home squad being a three-pointer to take a five-point lead, 39-34, that was later made nine points by the end of the frame, 49-40.

- The Tartans pulled it to eight points after a three-pointer by Or and a layup by Chintala with 6:11 to play.

- Or led the Tartans with 21 points after connecting on 9-of-17 from the floor with three made shots from long range.
- Chintala scored 14 points and had four steals.
- Nambisan had a team-high eight rebounds and two assists.

- The Yellow Jackets hit 24-of-56 (42.9%) from the floor and converted 12-of-24 from behind the arc for 50.0%.
- Ten of the team's three-pointers came in the second half when they outscored the Tartans 46-22.
- Caely Ressler led the team with 24 points while Bella Vaillant had 13 points and 13 rebounds.
- Emily Irwin dished out six assists.
