BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The William Paterson women's basketball team (6-4, 4-1 NJAC) fell 87-59 to Christopher Newport (11-1) on the opening day of the Steel Club Classic hosted by Moravian University.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • William Paterson fell behind by double figures in the first quarter after the Captains went ahead 22-12.
  • Christopher Newport maintained its double-digit lead the rest of the way to secure the win.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Junior Renee Wells logged a team-high 15 points to go with four rebounds.
  • Senior Brianna Smith had nine points and a team-best four assists.
  • Sophomore Mattison Chiera totaled seven points and five rebounds.
  • Sophomore Patty Walsh reeled in a team-high seven boards.
