Simmons, who has been a cornerstone of the women's basketball program, achieved a significant career milestone during the game, surpassing 1,000 career points. In addition to reaching the 1,000-point mark, Simmons contributed five rebounds and four assists to NCWU's effort, standing as the only Bishop to reach double figures with fourteen points.

Simmons' accomplishment is just one of many accolades she has earned during her time at Wesleyan, which also includes being named the school's Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the 2023-24 season. Her leadership and consistency has been vital in back-to-back appearances in the USA South title game.
While the Bishops struggled to keep pace with the Captains' offensive firepower, NCWU showed resilience, particularly in the paint. Senior forward Anaya Hall and sophomore center Corynthian Williams were key contributors on both ends of the floor. Hall posted a team-high eight rebounds and added six points, while Williams registered seven points and five boards. Both players were instrumental in battling CNU's size and physicality down low.
The Bishops' defense was another bright spot, as the Bishops forced 21 turnovers from the Captains. Wesleyan's defense also held CNU to just 6-24 shooting from beyond the three-point arc.
