WASHINGTON, D.C. - A one-sided first half saw Catholic (6-1, 3-1) take down Moravian (1-6, 0-4) in a Landmark Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon in D.C.
The Cardinals took a 55-28 lead into the halftime break and didn't look back in the second half in a dominating performance all around, winning 87-49. The win marked Catholic's 10th straight over the Greyhounds, last falling to Moravian in January of 2020. The Cardinals are now 14-5 against the Greyhounds in the DuFour Center.
Carly Mulvaney, Keegan Douglas, Kerry Flaherty, and Amelia Kennedy all scored in double figures for the Cardinals while 12 different players scored points for Catholic.
Mulvaney finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead Catholic as she recorded her second double-double of the season and the fifth of her career.
Douglas ended a two-game stretch of scoring less than 10 points with a 16-point effort, her second-highest scoring output of the season while Flaherty hit three threes and scored 13 points for Catholic. Kennedy stuffed the stat sheet for the Cardinals, scoring 10 points, nabbing six steals, grabbing five rebounds, and handing out four assists.
Matt Donohue's team opened the first quarter on a 25-4 run before holding a 29-11 advantage after the opening 10 minutes. The offense continued to roll, scoring 26 more points in the second and growing the 18-point edge to 27 at the break.
The Cardinal defense made life incredibly difficult in the third period as they held Moravian to just six points, growing the lead to 39 points. Catholic led by as many as 45 in the fourth quarter before closing out a 38-point victory, the largest in series history.
Catholic will enjoy a break during Finals Week before hosting the Jamie Lynn Roberts Fairfield Inn DC Holiday Classic on December 16 and 17. Catholic will take on Mount Saint Mary at 2 pm on the 16th.
