Women’s Basketball Challenges Rowan University in Post-Thanksgiving Gathering

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (12/2/2024) – Gwynedd Mercy University (3-4) returned home after the Thanksgiving holiday break to take on tough opponent in Rowan University (3-2). The game started with promise as the Griffins stayed competitive in the first quarter; 21-15 (0:26). Unfortunately, the Profs dominated the paint in the second quarter and broke the game open for a 46-18 (0:00) halftime spread. In the end, the Red and Gold lost to Rowan University by a 77-38 end. Senior forward Alexis Eagan (Drexel Hill, Pa.) and freshman guard Brianna McFadden (Fairless Hills, Pa.) shared the team lead in scoring with seven points apiece.
 
Griffin Highlights:

  • Both Gwynedd Mercy University (19) and Rowan University (20) faced turnover issues as they split nearly 40 combined turnovers.
  • The Red and Gold recorded 10 or more steals for the fourth time this season.
  • The Griffins shared the ball well with 10 assists on 14 (14-of-59, .237) made baskets.
  • McFadden led in assists with four. She also grabbed four rebounds.
  • Eagan added three rebounds, a block, and three steals to her points.
  • Sophomore guard Alyssa Cresto (Newark, Del.) hit a pair of three-point baskets (2-of-6, .333). She also collected two rebounds and recorded a career-high four steals.
