RAMAPO WOMEN'S BASKETBALL EARNS FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

New York, NY:  The Ramapo College women's basketball team won their first game of the 2024-2025 season this afternoon with a 59-37 win over Medgar Evers College. The Roadrunners move to 1-5 overall while the Cougars now stand at 0-4 overall.

The Roadrunners held Medgar Evers to just five points in the first quarter as they opened up an 18-5 lead heading into the second. Each team scored 11 points in the second and third quarters as Ramapo held a 40-27 lead heading into the final quarter of play. The Roadrunners posted 19 points to the Cougars' 10 for the 59-37 non-conference road win. Damiya Graham led the team with 15 points, four steals, four rebounds and three assists.  Alison Ahern posted 12 points and led the team with nine rebounds while adding two assists while Jocelyn Huancaya contributed with nine points as she finished 7-9 from the free throw line while adding eight rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal. Lauren Flatt added seven points, seven rebounds and one block. Bailey Murrell posted seven rebounds, a team high five assists and four points. The Roadrunners forced 26 Medgar Evers turnovers which led to 21 points for Ramapo. The team shot 33% (18-54) from the field in the game, 23% (3-13) from the three-point line and 57% (20-35) from the free throw line.

The Cougars were led by Sheily Quezada who posted a double-double 11 points and 12 rebounds while she added three blocks, two assists and one steal. Aaliyah Lyons posted nine points and five steals. The team shot 19% (10-51) from the field, 16% (1-6) from the three-point line and 72% (16-22) from the free throw line.

Ramapo returns to action on Tuesday, November 26th on the road when they open up the NJAC portion of the schedule against New Jersey City University at 5:30 PM.
