A multi-player effort sent the nationally-ranked Hope College women's basketball team to its third win of the season on Friday night.
Fifteen different Flying Dutch scored during an 82-52 victory against Anderson University (Indiana) in the opening game of the Hope College Tournament, which took place at West Ottawa High School due to the NCAA Division III Volleyball Regional at DeVos Fieldhouse.
Hope (3-1) will face Carroll University (Wisconsin) on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 2:30 p.m. at DeVos Fieldhouse. Carroll, an NCAA Division III Tournament qualifier last season, is 3-1 on the season after defeating The University of Olivet, 85-34, in Friday's second game.
Against Anderson, Hope jumped to an 11-2 lead to start the game. The Ravens (2-3) cut their deficit to 36-25 at the half.
The Flying Dutch, however, delivered their second powerful quarter of the night, outscoring Anderson during the third.
Freshman Maddie Petroejle (Hudsonville, Michigan / Hudsonville HS) and sophomore Terin Maynard (Jenison, Michigan / Jenison) led Hope with 10 points apiece.
Petroejle went 4-8 from the field, while Maynard knocked down all four shots from the free-throw line.
Senior Courtney Lee (Fishers, Indiana / Heritage Christian) tacked on eight points while blocking two shots.
Juniors Lauren Leach (Angola, Indiana / Angola) and Sydney Vis (Byron Center, Michigan / South Christian) and freshman Anna Richards (DeWitt, Michigan / Lansing Catholic) all had seven points in the win over Anderson.
Leach put in 5-of-6 shots for the night.
Freshman Leah Richards (DeWitt, Michigan / Lansing Catholic) topped Hope with eight rebounds, while senior Jada Garner (Midland, Michigan / H.H. Dow) pulled down seven rebounds.
Hope's bench outscored Anderson by a 45-26 margin.
