Harris Drops 20 Points In Loss To Marymount

Arlington, Va. -- Senior guard Olivia Harris led the University of Lynchburg women's basketball team with 20 points in a 67-57 defeat versus Marymount on Tuesday night at the Converse Family Field House.

Harris had her best scoring affair in over a year, making six-of-13 field goals and six-of-seven from the foul line. The last time the senior had 20-or-more points was on Jan. 5, 2023, when she notched 22 points against Guilford. She added two rebounds, one assist and one steal to her performance. Sophomore forward Taylor Brown snagged a team-high eight boards in the outing and tallied four points.

The Saints scored the first eight points of the contest and put the Hornets in an early hole, the first three of which came by a three-point play by Kaylah Barr. Lynchburg responded with six consecutive points, four courtesy of Harris, to come within two of Marymount with 1:33 left in the first quarter. The Hornets knotted the score at 11-11 at the beginning of the second period, thanks to a cashed 3-pointer by sophomore guard Kate Littlejohn, than again at 14-14 following a long range bucket from junior forward Brooke Cason.

Lynchburg rang up five straight to go in front for the first time of the competition with 5:29 left before halftime, but four different Saints performers contributed to a 12-2 run to own a 26-21 advantage heading into the intermission. Out of the break, Marymount's Barr netted four points of six straight to extend its lead to 32-21. The lead swung between six and 12 points in favor of the Saints for the remainder of the game.

The Hornets have another road game up next on the slate when they travel to Raleigh, N.C. for a matchup against William Peace on Saturday, November 16 at 2 p.m.
