Cardinals Improve to 3-0 with Dominant Victory over RIT

SAINT MARY'S CITY, Md. - Catholic's offense kicked into full gear on Saturday in an 84-43 victory over RIT on the final day of the Jamie L. Roberts Memorial Classic. 

 The Cardinals outscored the Tigers by at least seven points in all four quarters, building their lead to double digits early on in the contest.

Kerry Flaherty led the way for the Cardinals, scoring 18 points on 50 percent shooting from the field. She knocked down four of the team's 10 triples. Anna Scoblick contributed 15 points and seven rebounds and Amelia Kennedy recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards. Scoblick was named the tournament's MVP while Flaherty earned all-tournament honors. 

After RIT took an early 10-9 lead, the Cardinals ended the opening quarter on a 17-4 lead, turning the tide in their favor. Flaherty and Lauren Kraft hit threes during the run while Scoblick had five points for Catholic. 

The Cardinals pushed the lead to 20 for the first time at the 2:45 mark of the second quarter as Flaherty drilled a three off an assist from Alexa Kenah

Another big run from the Cardinals, this time 17-0, pushed the lead all the way to 37 points as a Kennedy layup made it a 65-28 ball game. The lead continued to grow, reaching 41 as Maggie Hughes drilled a three with 6:20 to play in the fourth.

When all was said and done, 14 players scored for Catholic as it secured its fourth 40-plus point victory in the past two seasons. With the victory, Matt Donohue now has 418 career wins with 300 of them coming at Catholic.
