MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College suffered its worst loss in nearly 16 years following a 62-27 non-conference setback to No. 8 UW-Oshkosh on Saturday in the final game of the 2024 Paul F. Knueppel Classic at Time of Grace Center.

The Warriors (1-2), who were held to 21.6 percent shooting, scored their only points of the first quarter on their first possession of the game when sophomore Margie Stevens (Oneida, Wis.) knocked down a three-pointer for the team's lone lead of the contest. WLC was held to 0-for-11 shooting the rest of the quarter, as the Titans took a 12-3 lead into the second period.

UWO opened the second quarter on an 8-2 scoring run to extend its advantage to 15 points with five-and-a-half minutes left before halftime. Freshman Abby Cole (Fond du Lac, Wis.) followed with four straight points to bring WLC within 11, but UW-Oshkosh closed out the second quarter with another 9-2 scoring run for a 29-11 halftime lead.

The two teams exchanged points for the first three minutes of the third quarter, before the Titans tallied 14 consecutive points to take a 47-16 advantage into final period.

Wisconsin Lutheran trailed by 34 points midway through the fourth quarter, and a 6-0 spurt brought the deficit down to 28 after a basket from freshman Faith Pape (Sheboygan, Wis.). UWO ended the game on a 9-2 scoring run.

Stevens, who was named to the All-Classic Team, led the Warriors with eight points, while Cole coraled a team-high seven rebounds. WLC was held to 21.6 percent (11-for-51) shooting from the floor.

Avery Poole scored a game-high 18 points for UW-Oshkosh (4-0). Kayce Vaile added a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds. The Titans shot an even 50 percent (23-for-46) from the floor in the game.

Wisconsin Lutheran travels to St. Louis next weekend for the McWilliams Classic hosted by WashU. The Warriors will face No. 17 Transylvania (1-1) on Friday at 5 p.m. Live coverage links can be found at WLCSports.com.
