ADA — The Ohio Northern women's basketball team opened their 2024-25 season with a 77-49 win over Wittenberg on Friday evening.

• Fifth-year senior Kristen Luersman (Fort Jennings) and sophomore Courtney Sumner (Ada) led the Polar Bears with 11 points each.
• Sophomore Chloee Glenn (Glandorf/Ottawa Glandorf) scored eight points and had a team-high eight rebouds.
• Ohio Northern started the game on a 6-0 run and led 16-9 after the first quarter.
• ONU led 38-28 at halftime.
• Northern went on a 14-0 run during the third quarter to extend the lead to 26 with 3:54 left in the third.
• ONU outscored Wittenberg 25-5 during the third quarter to take a commanding 63-33 lead at the break.
• Ohio Northern continued its dominance with a 7-0 run to open the fourth quarter, leading 70-33 with 6:37 remaining in the game.
• Wittenberg answered with a 7-0 run of its own, making the score 70-40 with 3:15 remaining.
• Ohio Northern made 29-of-65 field goals for 44.6 percent and was 6-of-24 from beyond the arc for 25.0 percent while Wittenberg was 18-of-25 from the floor for 27.7 percent and finished 4-of-23 on 3-pointers for 17.4 percent.
• ONU made 13-of-17 free throws for 76.5 percent and WU was 9-of-19 from the line for 47.4 percent.
• The Polar Bears out-rebounded the Polar Bears 50-40.
