Lauer Leads Allegheny to Lopsided Victory at Thiel

GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Emily Lauer (Knox, Pa./Keystone) and the Allegheny College women's basketball team made light work of Thiel College during Wednesday's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup, as the Gators took down the Tomcats on their home court, 84-38.

The Gators (2-5, 2-1 PAC) put together a complete 40 minutes on both ends of the court against the Tomcats (0-5, 0-4 PAC). Allegheny turned a solid defensive effort into points on the other end of the floor, as the Gators produced game-highs in points off turnovers (27) and fast-break points (17). Nine of the 10 players who earned playing time scored, and all 10 had at least one rebound and one assist.

Allegheny opened the first quarter with nine unanswered points, extended the lead to 19-6 by the end of the first quarter, and never looked back. The only quarter the Tomcats managed to score double-digit points was the fourth quarter, as the Gators limited them to a mere 18 points in the first 30 minutes of play.

Lauer led all scorers with a season-high 27 points in just two-and-a-half quarters. She was responsible for 19 of the team's 40 first-half points. The junior guard finished the evening 11-of-14 (78.6%) overall and was a perfect 5-for-5 from the foul line.

Analyse Rios (Orlando, Fla./Timber Creek) and Jasmyn Fisher (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) made the most of their minutes in the second half. Rios scored 12 of her 15 points in the second half, while Fisher added seven en route to a 10-point performance.
