CONWAY, Ark. - The Vikings increase their record to 8-3 in SAA play with their second defeat of the Warriors this season, 63-53.
With Elly Callihan's fourth double-double this season and Kenadie Lee (fourth leading scorer in the SAA) posting 16-points, this road contest would come out in the favor of the Vikings.
Tipping of the game, Hendrix hit a pair of free throws and Jeryn Jarrett responded with her first of three triple for the day to jump start Berry's 9-0 run (9-2).
The Warriors crawled back into the game and tied it at 10 and took the lead shortly after at 12-10 with three minutes to go in the first. The Vikings refused to trail for long and took back their lead, but before the close of the quarter two free throws tied it at 14.
In the second, a 6-0 run from Berry created that separation again, but Hendrix refused to be put away and reeled the score back in at 20-19. Before halftime, a ten point run sponsored by two three's from Lee and Jarrett's second of the game gave Berry their largest lead at eleven, but a jumper from the Warriors put the Vikings up 30-21 at half.
The second half defense from the Vikings boosted them to their win, with the third SAA steal leader Ellie Gearing having six steals for the game to lead her team (a new career high).
Late in the third, Hendrix again battled and brought the game within one point with 1:40 to go, but a quick gear shift that led to a closing out seven points for the Vikings put the score at 48-40 heading into the fourth.
Sylvia Kahoro gave her team their largest lead of the game at 14 just under the four-minute mark (59-45) that created enough distance to leave the home team unable to come back and keep the Vikings as third in the conference.
The Vikings return home to close out the regular season with a trio of games beginning on Friday against Centre at 6:00 PM ET.
