- The Lead: A pair of runs during the third quarter helped MIT pull away and eventually capture a 78-63 victory at Clark University in NEWMAC women's basketball action on Wednesday night. One of five players to reach double-digits in scoring, junior Elise Harvey (Wayland, Mass.) powered the Engineers with 15 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Clark jumped out to 14-5 lead with 4:32 left in the opening frame. A layup by junior Kamsi Nwogu (Algonquin, Ill.) during MIT's next possession sparked a 13-2 run as a three-pointer by graduate student Christina Antonakakis (Holmdel, N.J.) gave the visitors an 18-16 edge with 35 seconds to go. The Cougars tied the game courtesy of a layup with 11 seconds remaining.

- A trey from Harvey two minutes into the second stanza kicked off a 10-2 burst that resulted in a 28-20 lead at the 5:27 mark. Harvey produced eight straight points while Nwogu's layup capped the run. Clark chipped away at the deficit as four consecutive layups evened the score with 3:27 on the clock. MIT quickly responded with a jumper from sophomore Kaya Weiser (Villanova, Pa.), helping it take a 30-28 edge at halftime.

- An 11-2 run by the Engineers during the first two minutes of the third quarter, bookended by three-pointers from Weiser, created some breathing room. The Cougars countered with a free throw and a trio of layups to come within 41-37 midway through the frame. MIT replied with a 14-3 run – with Harvey accounting for seven points – helping it build a 55-40 advantage with 38 seconds remaining. Down the stretch, Clark produced two free throws and a layup.

- The Engineers controlled the action in the fourth quarter as they outscored the Cougars, 16-4, during the first five minutes, helping put the game out of reach.
