Arlington, Va. - (1/17/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (7-10, 0-3) traveled down to Virginia to take on the reigning Atlantic East Conference champions Marymount University (13-5, 3-0). With the Saints getting out to an early 14-2 run, the Griffins would be unable to outscore Marymount in a single quarter this contest and eventually falling 84-51. Senior guard Lynzie Eggers (Washington Township, N.J.) was the player in red and gold to reach double-digit points (23) as she went 9-of-18 (50%) from the field with three rebounds and a game-high four steals.
Griffin Highlights:
- Junior guard Alexis Egan (Drexel Hill, Pa.) was the only Griffin to hit a few three-pointers (2), as she was 2-of-3 (67%) with eight points, a team-high five rebounds, and one block.
- Gwynedd Mercy was dominated on the glass as they were outrebounded 45-26.
- With the Saints finishing with 19 offensive rebounds, they took most of their opportunities with 28 second-chance points compared to the Griffins' two.
- Marymount's game plan was to play quick, and they succeeded, finishing with 25 fast break points in the contest.
