The Mary Washington women's basketball team had very little trouble with Stevenson in its 108-45 victory over Stevenson in Owings Mills, Md. on Monday evening. For the first time since the 2019-20 season, the Eagles reached at least 100 points -- the last time they did, it was a 110-29 victory over Lehman on Nov. 15, 2019.
It was a total team effort for UMW, who had all 12 players on the roster record a point, as six members came away with double figures. Jordan Carpenter (19 points) led the way, while Sydney Sherman (13), Keagan Schwab (12), Megan Baxter (11), Keira Rohrback (10), and Andrea Lefkowitz (10) all added to the Eagles' big day.
Ashley Martin (nine points), Grace Hare (nine), and Jenna Steadman (nine) followed closely behind.
On the day, Mary Washington shot 39-of-76 (51.3%) and added eight triples on 21 attempts (38.1%). The Eagles also converted 22 of their 31 free throws (71%). Too, Mary Washington dominated on the boards as it outrebounded Stevenson by 16, 47-31.
On the Eagles 39 buckets, they added 24 assists as Sherman led the way with seven of her own.
On the defensive end, Mary Washington held Stevenson to just a 23% clip (12-of-51) from the floor and a 13.6% mark from deep (3-for-22). The Eagles also forced 31 turnovers and came away with 20 steals and three blocks.
The Eagles are back in action at Norfolk State (Div. I) on Jan. 22 at 6:00 p.m.
