Washington, D.C. - (1/6/2024) - For the first time in program history Gwynedd Mercy University (7-8, 0-1) traveled to Washington, D.C. to take on Gallaudet University (8-6, 1-1).With just 18 seconds left in the game, the Griffins trailed by just two (75-73) with a chance to tie the game or take the lead. Unfortunately for Gwynedd Mercy, a failed inbound pass led to a turnover, and the team fell to the Bison 77-73. Senior guard Lynzie Eggers (Washington Township, N.J.) continues to dominate the court during her senior campaign as Eggers finished with a team-high 18 points. To go along with her 18 points, Eggers finished with six rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Griffin Highlights:
- The Griffins again struggled offensively in the first half as the team only scored 30 points at the half and shot 10-of-33 (30%), while the Bison scored 48 points on 22-of-36 (47%).
- Junior guard Alexis Eagan (Drexel Hill, Pa.) provided 14 of the 23 bench points scored for Gwynedd Mercy. Eagan was 5-of-12 (42%) from the field with a team-high eight rebounds and tying a career-high five steals.
- The Griffins did an excellent job not allowing the Bison any open looks from behind the three-point arc as Gallaudet was 0-of-3 from three.
- Senior guard Gabby Marinacci (Collegeville, Pa.) was efficient from the floor as she finished 4-of-7 (57%) from the field with a team-high five assists. Marinacci also tallied 12 points, four steals, and a rebound.
Gwynedd Mercy concluded non-conference play after today's contest and will travel back to the Griffin Complex as they play host to conference foe Centenary University (N.J.) on Wednesday, January 10th, for a 6:00 p.m. tipoff.
