BEAVER FALLS, PA. – Four players scored in double figures as the Washington & Jefferson College women's basketball team breezed to a 94-58 road win over Geneva College Saturday afternoon in Presidents' Athletic Conference play at the Metheny Fieldhouse.

The hot-shooting Presidents picked up their fifth straight win to improve to 8-1 overall. The victory moved the Presidents into a first place tie at 6-1 in the PAC standings. Geneva, who entered the game winners of three straight contests, falls to 5-3 in the conference and 6-5 overall.

The Red and Black carved up the Golden Tornadoes defense to finish with 94 points, which is the highest single game total for W&J since they scored 95 in a win at Waynesburg University on Jan. 11, 2020. W&J scored at least 20 points in all four quarters in the victory Saturday.

Things seemed to evenly matched throughout the first quarter as the Presidents and Golden Tornadoes traded points for the first four minutes until a layup by Hannah Archer (Lowell, Ohio/Fort Frye) gave W&J a 17-15 lead at the 5:25 mark. Back-to-back buckets by Jaden Wan(Newton, Pa./Council Rock) and Sarah Berardelli (Ambridge, Pa./North Catholic) stretched the lead to six points with 3:21 left in the first quarter.

A late layup just before the horn by Meghan Dryburgh (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) strengthened the lead to 29-20 after 10 minutes of play. The 29 first quarter points matched W&J's highest scoring quarter of the season.

W&J showcased a stifling defensive display in the second quarter to put the game out of reach by halftime. The Presidents outscored the GT's by a 21-6 margin in the second quarter. W&J limited Geneva to just three field goals on 18 attempts during the quarter.

Geneva trailed by just nine points after a jumper cut the deficit to 35-26 at the 5:46 mark. However, the Presidents ripped off 15-straight points to finish the half. Archer accounted for 11-straight points for the Presidents. Archer drained three-point field goals on three-straight possessions for W&J, who carried a comfortable 50-26 lead into halftime.

The second half was more of the same for both units as the Presidents would continue to pile onto their lead while holding the Golden Tornadoes to 30 percent from the field and 19 percent from beyond the arc in the second half.

Berardelli accounted for eight of the 24 points for W&J in the third quarter. The Presidents led by a 74-42 margin entering the fourth.
