Cairn Women's Basketball: Highlanders Fall to Conference Foe Bryn Athyn on the Road

BRYN ATHYN, PA – The Cairn University Women's Basketball team faced off against the Lions of Bryn Athyn College on the road, Tuesday night, seeking their seventh straight win. The Highlanders would fall short, 72-39.

  • Junior forward Taylor Hinson (Carney's Point, NJ / Collingswood HS) and freshman guard Makayla Rained (Jonesboro, GA / St. Mary's Academy) would each finish with ten points, Hinson with six rebounds, a block, and two steals.
  • Freshman guard Ella Quince (Morrisville, PA / Morrisville HS) would add five points and five assists with a pair of blocked shots and three steals.
  • Bryn Athyn (5-1 / 3-0 United East Skye Division) made the most of points off turnovers and second chances as well as running on fast break opportunities.

How It Played Out

  • Cairn (6-2 / 2-1 United East Skye Division) got off to a slow start but picked up the pace late in the first quarter, going on a 14-3 run after being down 4-0 to start the game and closing out the first quarter up 14-7. Raines got things started with a made three and layup.
  • The Lions fought back in the second period to take a 25-19 lead into halftime.
  • The Bryn Athyn momentum came back out of the break as they scored six unanswered points.
  • Quince and Hinson would each make a bucket as the Lions began to pile on their lead by way of the press.
  • The fourth quarter got underway with Cairn searching for a hero. Hinson flushed a pair of layups along with one by Raines, but it would not be enough as time was not on Cairn's side.
  • The Cairn win streak came to an end at six games as the Highlanders fell to the Lions, 72-39.
