CLARKS SUMMIT, PA – The Cairn University Women's Basketball team traveled up north on Saturday afternoon in search of their sixth consecutive win, which they were able to collect in a 70-64 victory over the Clarks Summit Defenders.
Box Score Details
- Freshman guard Makayla Raines (Jonesboro, GA / St. Mary's Academy) led all scorers with 26 points on 50% shooting from the floor and six three-pointers.
- Junior forward Taylor Hinson (Carney's Point, NJ / Collingswood HS) collected her third double-double of conference play with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
- Freshman guard Ella Quince (Morrisville, PA / Morrisville HS) scored 16.
How It Played Out
- Cairn (6-1 / 2-0 United East Skye Division) took the lead off the tip as freshman guard Kayden Jeselskis (Baltimore, MD / Rosedale Christian Academy) splashed a three.
- From there, Clarks Summit (1-6 / 0-2 United East Skye Division) stayed within striking distance and closed the first quarter with a 16-12 lead.
- The Defenders' lead would get as was as 13 as the Highlanders went to halftime down, 36-31.
- Out of the break, Cairn looked for momentum and to create a run. After battling back, Raines would drain a three to cut the lead to two. Quince and Hinson followed with a score each and a fast break layup assisted by Raines for Quince gave the Highlanders the lead.
- Jeselskis hit another triple with a layup from Hinson to stretch the Highlander lead to six. Raines splashed a three to close out the quarter, Cairn ahead 60-47.
- It was all Cairn in the fourth quarter as the Highlanders never relinquished the lead, taking their second conference win and sixth game in a row, 70-64.

- Raines tied her career-high with 26 points.
- The Highlanders tied the modern-era program record for wins in-a-row with six (2006-07, 2005-06, 2003-04).
