WBB Drops Game to Emory

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Vikings battled against in-state rival, Emory in day two of the Tip-Off Classic that resulted in a loss of 65-53.

The Vikings fell behind 6-0 in route to a 19-11 quarter led by the Eagles. Elly Callihan posted the first three points for Berry, and led the team on the day, just two rebounds shy of a double-double.
Karlee Armstrong ended the period with momentum for the Vikings with a final second shot to mimic her teammate from yesterday with a buzzer three heading into the second quarter down eight, instead of eleven.

Callie Jackson brought the game within six in the first minute of the second with a bucket in the paint (19-13). The Eagles and Vikings played some some solid ball as neither team could pull any closer or further until the last minute when Callihan's jumper put the deficit at five. The Eagles went one to make a free-throw before heading to halftime 34-28.

Eleven points off turnovers in the first half deemed difficult to fight back from for the Vikings and Emory continued to take advantage with their defense converting to offense and totaled 19 points for the game off of turnovers from Berry.

A six point third quarter left Berry in a hole going down by 17 points with a scoreless eight minutes heading into the final quarter.

The Vikings showed grit in the fourth with an opening quick five points from Kenadie Lee and Armstrong. The team continued to battle but were only able to bring the game within twelve as the Eagles claimed victorious on their home court.

Berry will return to action on after Thanksgiving on November 28th at Brevard College.
