Berry Falls in Heartbreaker to Brevard

A strong first quarter for the Vikings seemed like smooth sailing for remainder of the game. After going down 8-4 Ellie Gearing and Elly Callihan produced the next five points to give their team a one point lead. Berry went on to outscore the Tornados 13-0 in the final three minutes of the quarter, Kenadie Lee had six of the 13 going into the second quarter up 24-11.

Before halftime, the Vikings had to rely solely on their defense to fend off Brevard as they were unable to score a field goal in the ten minutes, their two points came from leading scorer Kenadie Lee, at the foul line. Despite such a tough scoring quarter, Berry only allowed 13 points for their opponent and was still up by two at halftime (26-24).

It took some time for Berry to get their scoring feet back under them, they posted 11 points in the third quarter, seven of which came from the free-throw line. Foul shots kept the Vikings in the game although they were down 41-37 as they began the final 10 minutes of play.

The teams valiant effort began after getting down as much as 11 points with four minutes remaining. Callihan and Lee, who combined for 42 of the Vikings points began to take over in scoring and rebounds to put their team in a winning opportunity. They did just that when Callihan made two free-throws and a layup to shoot up by two with under a minute to go (62-60). The Tornados sized up in the paint to find their next two points with a foul for a chance to take the lead at one with a made free-throw, and they did just that (63-62).

Vikings ball with twelve seconds on the clock, Lee shot a three that Sarah Wright snagged the offensive board on. Wright went up and drew a foul for a chance at two points, she missed the pair of free throws and in a last second attempt the team was unable to draw another foul for a second chance.

Key Notes:
- The Vikings were outscored in the paint 38-14
- The lead changed a total of seven times throughout the contest
- Berry converted 23 points off the Tornadoes 26 turnovers
