Anchorwomen Defeat Ephs, 66-65, to Claim Williams Tournament Title

Williamstown, Mass.—Graduate guard Sophia Guerrier (Waltham, Mass.) was named the Most Outstanding Player and to the All-Tournament Team as No. 5 Rhode Island College defeated Williams, 66-65, in the finals of the Williams Tournament played in Chandler Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Junior forward Angelina Nardolillo (Hinsdale, N.H.) was also named to the All-Tournament team.

• The Anchorwomen would go on a 13-7 run to end the first quarter to go up by six, 21-15, after the first 10 minutes of play.
 
• The hosts would respond by going on an 11-2 run to round out the second quarter and close the gap on the visitors. RIC would head into halftime with a 37-34 lead.
 
• The two sides would continue to exchange baskets in the second half. Fifth-year center Neleesha Meunier (Leominster, Mass) would score five points or her game total of 12 in the third quarter.
 
• Guerrier, junior guard Jayda Bing (Hamilton, N.J.), and fifth-year forward Izabelle Booth (Newport, R.I.) would all hit free throws over the final 75 seconds of the match and the Anchorwomen dodged a bullet when an Ephs' game-winning shot attempt off a turnover was off the mark at the buzzer, to win the game.
 
• Guerrier finished with 12 points, eight boards and three steals. Nardolillo contributed 12 points, three boards and a block. Meunier chipped in with 12 points and five boards and connected on all six of her free throw attempts.
