William Paterson Women Upended by No. 5 Rhode Island College

WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. – The William Paterson women's basketball team (1-2) was upended by No. 5 Rhode Island College (2-0), 70-48, Nov. 18 in the first round of Williams' Morin Memorial Tournament.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Anchorwomen came out hot, building a 14-0 advantage on their way to a 39-20 halftime lead.
  • The Pioneers finished strong, out-scoring Rhode Island by a 14-9 count during the fourth quarter.

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Senior guard Brianna Smith paced the Pioneers with 18 points.
  • Freshman guard Laila Jones posted nine points, four rebounds and three steals.
  • Sophomore forward Renee Wells chipped in seven tallies and four boards.

 

UP NEXT:

  • William Paterson will play Maine Maritime in the Morin Memorial Tournament consolation game Sunday, Nov. 19, at 1:00 p.m.
