RECAP: Women’s Basketball dominates in win over SUNY-Delhi

The Bard College women's basketball team controlled the game from start to finish on Saturday afternoon and defeated SUNY-Delhi, 59-18 at Floyd L. Maines Arena. 

Bard (2-0) had three players score double-digit points. Junior Maggy Peyton led the Raptors with 15 points and four boards. Peyton went 5-of-6 from the line. First-year Aisylnn Dixon stuffed the stat sheet with new career-highs in several categories, with 13 points, three steals, four assists, and six rebounds. She shot 4-of-7 from the field. 

The Liberty League Rookie of the Week, Lexi Miller, had her second consecutive double-digit points, tying her career-high 12 points. Miller added five rebounds, a steal and two blocks. Senior Mae Redmond added eight points and tied her career-high with seven rebounds, all without any turnovers. 

Sophomore Shirley Dong and first-year Ella Perreault had seven rebounds each. Perreault added seven points, while Dong dished out four assists and had two steals. First-year Erin Tobes grabbed a career-high nine rebounds, adding three assists and two steals. Fellow first-year Jessica Martin had three rebounds, two assists and two steals. 

Bard opened up the first quarter with an 8-0 lead, before Delhi (0-5) scored their first basket. The Raptors held the Broncos to only nine points in the first half, and shot 43.8% from the field in the first quarter. 

The Raptors kept their shooting momentum in the second half, and kept the Broncos to nine points again. Bard scored 22 points off turnovers and had 28 points in the paint. Bard outrebounded Delhi by 52-30 and totaled 13 team assists. It is the first time since the 2019-20 season that the Raptors have had multiple wins. 

Bard will travel to FDU-Florham on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
