Carruthers Scores 14 in Loss to Mountaineers

BEREA, Ky. – Maryville was back in action on Wednesday night for a matchup against CCS rival Berea. The Scots fell to the first place Mountaineers 77-30.
 
In a tough game that saw MC shoot just 10-of-50 (20 percent) from the field, Courtney Carruthers was a bright spot, scoring a team-high 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting.
 
Olivia CathersHailey Cronk, and Emma Huskey each recorded five rebounds in the contest while Chloe Roark picked up four boards to go along with a team-high three steals.

Wednesday's matchup marked the lowest-scoring game of the season for Maryville. Berea outscored MC 45-15 in the first half while shooting 56.6 percent from the field.
 
The third quarter was the Scots' best 10 minutes of the night. They scored 11 points while holding the Mountaineers to 14.
 
For Berea, Lynkaylah James led her team in scoring and on the boards. She recorded a team-high 17 points while grabbing a remarkable 20 rebounds, nine of which were of the offensive variety. Jayden Merriweather followed with 15 points of her own while recording a team-high 5 steals.
 
Maryville travels to Demorest, Georgia on Saturday for their final regular season matchup of the season against Piedmont. Tip-off is at 2 p.m.
