Offensive Outburst Allows The Griffins To Sweep Season Series Against The Pacers

Scranton, Pa. -  Gwynedd Mercy University (12-10, 5-4) traveled to Marywood University (12-10, 2-8) looking to sweep the Pacers this season after defeating Marywood at home on January 11th with a 74-56 victory. After an action-packed first half, both teams combined for 97 points. The Griffins' defense turned up in the second half allowing the Pacers to only score eight points in the third and 16 in the fourth, which eventually allowed Gwynedd Mercy to earn a 90-71 victory. Junior guard Lynzie Eggers (Turnersville, N.J.) finished the night 8-19 from the floor (4-5 from three) with a team-high 24 points, eight rebounds, five assists,  and a team-high five steals.

Griffin Highlights: 

  • Senior guard Elise Sylvester (Pottstwon, Pa.) finished with a team-high 24 points on 9-20 shooting. Sylvester also added two rebounds, an assist, and four steals to her stat sheet. 
  • The Griffins forced the Pacers into 22 turnovers, leading to 28 points off of turnovers. 
  • Gwynedd Mercy led the steal category 17-5. 
  • Senior forward Haley Crossley (Philadelphia, Pa.) earned her tenth double-double of the year with 15 points and 12 rebounds. 
  • All nine Griffins that entered the game tonight finished with points. 


Gwynedd Mercy University returns to The Griffin Complex Saturday, February 11th, when they host Neumann University for a 1:00 p.m. tipoff.
