BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Leading an unforgettable performance by the Captains' reserves, Christopher Newport was led by an eye-popping 32 points from rookie McKenna Snively on Saturday afternoon as the top-ranked Captains ran away from Pratt Institute (1-17) on the road, 107-34. Snively scored 32 of an impressive 95 bench points for CNU in the game as four different CNU reserves reached double figures.

Putting together an historic performance from beyond the arc, Snively scored 32 points on 12-of-18 shooting from the floor. She buried eight three-pointers, becoming just the third CNU player in program history to knock down eight or more triples in a single game. Snively was 8-of-12 from beyond the arc and joined CNU legend Chelsie Schweers and sharpshooter Jessica Foster as the only players in program history to reach the mark. The same trio each accomplished the feat in their rookie campaign as Snively's octet of treys is the most in a single game since Foster sank nine against St. Mary's (Md.) on January 9, 2019.

Overall, the 32-point outburst is tied for the third most points scored in a game by a CNU freshman. Only Schweers (35) and Karen Barefoot (34) have scored more as first-year player.

CNU improved to 19-0 with the victory and outpaced the Cannoneers by 73 points. The Captains' defense held Pratt to just 16.3 percent (8-49) shooting in the game, ranking as the eighth lowest opponent field-goal percentage in program history.

The Captains scored the first 18 points in the game and led by as many as 34 points in the first half. CNU carried a 47-13 advantage into the break. CNU shot 46.5 percent (20-43) in the first half and were led by Snively with 16 points. After intermission, the CNU attack was even better, shooting 61.9 percent (26-42) in the second half.

While Snively stole the headlines, all eight of the Captains reserves put together an exceptional performance to combine for 95 points. Ashley Steadman narrowly missed a double-double with 12 points and 9 rebounds while the freshman also dished four assists. Speaking of dimes, rookie Faith Henderson set up a season-high eight buckets while adding seven points and three rebounds. Forwards Alivia Giles and Hannah Orloff finished in double figures with 10 points apiece and Orloff was a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor.

Filling the stat sheet, freshman Makenna Zimmerman scored nine points, hauled in seven rebounds, had three assists, three blocks, and two steals. Rounding out the bench performance was Hailey Kellogg, with seven points and seven assists and Alexia Lindsey with eight points and four helpers. Lindsey was also the team's leader on defense, grabbing a career-high nine steals. It ties the record for the most thefts in a game by a single player since Alice Streetman snagged 10 against Methodist on February 18, 1995.

Four of five starters played seven minutes or less while Camille Malagar logged 15 minutes as the starting point guard. Malagar had four points and four rebounds while also picking up a pair of assists.

Pratt was led by Kylie Grant with 26 points and 11 rebounds while never coming off the floor for the Cannoneers. She was 7-for-22 and only one other player converted a field goal as Almudena Valenzuela had five points in the game.

Christopher Newport will return to action on Sunday afternoon as the Captains travel to New Jersey City University (9-9) for a 2:00 p.m. tip against the Gothic Knights. Live stats and video will be available at game time.
