Rochester, NY – With a significant deficit on the glass, the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team's second chances were limited against RIT, as the Golden Knights fell to the Tigers 66-49 on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights fell to 6-8 overall and 2-6 in the Liberty League while RIT edged forward to 5-11 and 3-6. Clarkson will continue its road run next weekend when the team heads to Bard College and Vassar College.

Clarkson's offense started off strong with a 7-0 run in the first three minutes, but over the next 11 minutes overlapping the first and second periods, RIT went on a 22-5 run. The Knights briefly got back on track to pull within six points at the break.

Both teams increased their scoring output in the third, but the Tigers scored 24 in the period, just one short of their first-half total, utilizing a significant edge on the boards. Both teams took care of the ball well overall, but RIT finished the game with a 53-33 edge in rebounds. The Tigers had 19 offensive boards and Clarkson had just three in the game. That proved the difference in the fourth quarter, as the Knights were limited in second chances and could not make up the gap in the final 10 minutes.

Sophomore Cassidy Dumont led the Knights with 14 points while classmate Veronica Tache chipped in 11 points. Elaina Porter had eight points and nine rebounds and Bella Doyle tossed in nine rebounds and five blocked shots. Raelin Burns also scored nine points for the Knights.

For RIT, Lila McGuiggan came out of nowhere with 21 points, having scored only 31 points in her previous 10 games for the Tigers. McGuiggan shot 8-for-12 from the field and 5-for-7 from beyond the 3-point arc. Emma Waite also scored 20 points for the Tigers and Sydney Pearson added 14 rebounds.
