The nationally-ranked Hope College women's basketball team returned home to DeVos Fieldhouse hungry for a win. En route to the 36th century-mark win in program history, seven different Flying Dutch scored in double-figures in a 121-51 victory on Wednesday night.

Hope controlled the pace of the game after propelling past the Belles of Saint Mary's College for a 33-12 first-quarter lead.

"I thought we played with really great pace today, I thought we shot the ball amazingly well. The tone setter of this game was that we were going to come out and compete harder," said head coach Brian Morehouse. "I thought one of the first plays of the game where Meg Morehouse went diving for the ball, rolling out of bounds, I thought that was a great example of how we were going to compete at a different level."

The Flying Dutch's 121 total points marked the third-highest scoring game in Hope College women's basketball history. Hope not only reached the 100-point mark in 36 games all-time, the Flying Dutch have won all 36 of those contests.

Hope (No. 9 D3hoops/No. 10 WBCA) improves to 15-2 overall and 6-2 in MIAA play. The Flying Dutch are now tied for second place in the MIAA with Albion College and Calvin University.

Sophomore Olivia Bellows paced Hope with 19 points for a career-high night for the Lake City, Michigan (Lake City HS) native. Bellows went 7-9 from the field, including sinking all three from behind the 3-point line and both free-throw attempts.

Senior Savannah Feenstra (Osceola, Indiana / Northwood) and freshman Sydney Vis (Byron Center, Michigan / South Christian) each tallied 13 points in the victory. Vis knocked down two of three 3-point attempts, while Feenstra went 5 for 7 from the field.

Senior Kate Majerus (Sycamore, Illinois / Sycamore) finished with 11 total points, including three straight shots from behind the three-point line in the first quarter to help Hope record 80% 3-point shooting in the first ten minutes of play.

Hope's bench totaled 77 points, which included both freshman Karsen Karlblom (Crystal Lake, Illinois / Prairie Ridge) and freshman Kendall Sietsema (Hudsonville, Michigan / Homeschool) tallying career-high nights, each with 11 points.

"We're trying a few different things offensively right now, I think they're working," said Brian Morehouse. "I think our competition level was more consistent than it has been in the last six games."

Hope's next game is Saturday, Jan. 21, at 3 p.m. at DeVos Fieldhouse against Alma College. After the game, the 2021-22 national championship team will be honored with a banner unveiling.
