BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Basketball team lost 58-38 on Friday night at Medaille University in an Empire 8 game.
Mary Cotter (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) led Keuka College (3-12, 0-8 Empire 8) with 10 points. Ellen Lavonas (Rochester, N.Y. / Brighton) had the team lead with six rebounds.
Medaille University 58 vs. Keuka College 38
Medaille jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead over the Wolves. Lauren Hill (Cobleskill, N.Y. / Cobleskill-Richmondville) got Keuka on the board, but the Mavericks responded with 10 more points. In total, Keuka went 1-13 from the floor and 0-8 from three in the opening quarter. Keuka trailed 18-2 after ten minutes.
Sydney Brown (Lowville, N.Y. / Lowville Academy) made the first basket of the second quarter, a three, but Medaille responded with two straight threes of their own. Five different Wolves scored in the frame, but Medaille extended their lead. The hosts led by 20, 35-15, at the half.
Keuka College shot their best from the floor in the third quarter, but Medaille was able to match them. Medaille led 47-24 going into the fourth quarter.
The teams traded baskets in the fourth quarter. The difference in the frame was a buzzer-beating three by Isabella Colon (Pine Bush, N.Y. / Pine Bush). That gave the Wolves a 14-11 fourth-quarter win, but Medaille took the game 58-38.

- Keuka College has now lost consecutive games to Medaille, but the Wolves remain ahead in the season series 17-4
- It was the third time this season that freshman Mary Cotter scored in double figures
- The Wolves took care of the ball, committing a season-low 8 turnovers on Friday. It was the first time since January 2018 that they have committed less than ten turnovers
- Isabella Colon finished with a season-high five points. She set her career-high of seven points against Medaille last season
- Friday was the first meeting between Medaille and Keuka as members of the Empire 8. The two previously met within the North Eastern Athletic Conference where Keuka had a 6-0 record over the Mavericks
