Hope Upset at Albion

The nationally-ranked Hope College women's basketball team suffered its second loss of the season after losing to Albion College, 69-53, on the road on Saturday afternoon.

The Flying Dutch are now 14-2 overall and 5-2 in MIAA play, falling to third in the league rankings behind Trine University in the top spot, and Albion in second. 

Senior Savannah Feenstra scored a team-high and game-high 21 points, with 14 of those points coming in the second half. The forward from Osceola, Indiana (Northwood HS) shot 50% from the field and 72.7% from behind the free throw line, en route to her 12th game in double figures of the season and seventh in a row.

Teammate senior Ella McKinney (Haslett, Michigan / Haslett) notched 12 points for Hope. McKinney and Feenstra led the Flying Dutch in rebounds, each with six. 

Senior Claire Baguley (Ada, Michigan / Forest Hills Cenrtral) added 9 points, and senior Meg Morehouse (Zeeland, Michigan / Zeeland East) led Hope with five assists, which matched LoLo Reed of Albion for a game-high. 

Albion never trailed during the MIAA matchup and outscored Hope in three of four quarters, including 17-12 in the first quarter and 14-6 in the second quarter. 

The Britons had four different players in double figures. Junior Daniah Beavers led Albion with 17 points off the bench. 

The Flying Dutch shot 27.3 percent from the field.

Hope returns to action at home. The Flying Dutch host Saint Mary's College on Wednesday, Jan. 18, at 6 p.m. at DeVos Fieldhouse.
