Nazareth runs past Utica, 66-46

ROCHESTER, NY – Freshman Katie MacLachlan scored a career-high 16 points, as Nazareth blew out Utica, 66-46, in conference play on Tuesday Night at Kidera Gymnasium. The Golden Flyers shot nearly 40 percent from the field (27-for-69) in the winning effort.
 
Nazareth moves to 9-4 on the season and 5-1 in league play with the win, while the Pioneers drop to 7-5 and 2-3 in league play.
 
MacLachlan got off to a strong start for Nazareth, scoring nine of its first 12 points. Meanwhile, the Pioneers struggled mightily to start the game, failing to score until the five-minute mark. Nazareth led 20-5 after one quarter.
 
The Golden Flyers stayed hot in the second quarter. After shooting 44.4 percent (8-for-18) in the first, Naz shot 42.1 (8-for-19) in the second. Kim Davis nearly had a double-double in the first 20 minutes, pouring in 11 points (5-for-10) and nine rebounds. She finished the game with 13 points and a season-high 14 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. The graduate student also had three assists.
 
MacLachlan scored her 16th point on a 3-pointer to make it 47-16 coming three minutes out of the half. Nazareth kept the momentum going all quarter, capped by a Madilann Johnson triple as time expired to make it 59-24. She tallied six points.
 
Jadyn Abrams tallied 10 points and four rebounds. Brielle Reidinger was also in double figures with 10 points, 10 boards, and three assists.
 
Nazareth will have 10 days before its next contest, hosting Sage on Friday, January 20 at 5:30 p.m.
