LEWISTON, Maine. – The Connecticut College women's basketball team fell by a 59-35 final to Bates College on Sunday afternoon in NESCAC action at Alumni Gym.
Rebecca Oberman-Levine (Hamden, Conn.) finished with 15 points, three rebounds and three blocks to lead the Camels. Charlotte Head (Holden, Mass.) chipped in seven points while Aislinn McMahon (Andover, Mass.) grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.
Conn kept it close in the first quarter, getting points from five different players throughout the opening 10 minutes. A jumper by McMahon capped the scoring and left the Camels down 11-10 heading into the second quarter.
Bates opened the second period with an 8-2 run to take control. Alexandra Long netted seven of her team's 14 points in the stanza as the Bobcats took a 25-17 lead into the locker room at halftime.
In the third quarter, Bates outscored Conn 23-10 behind 12 points from Morgan Kennedy and 10 from Meghan Graff. The Camels trailed by as many as 26 in the fourth quarter as Bates improved to 7-5 overall (1-0 NESCAC).
Graff led all scorers with 19 points while Kennedy finished with 14. The Bobcats shot 41 percent as a team and hit nine three-pointers in the contest.
Conn College (4-9 overall, 0-2 NESCAC) will next visit Trinity College on Friday, January 13 at 7:00 p.m.
