MEDFORD, Mass. – The Connecticut College women's basketball team opened NESCAC play with a 55-38 loss to No. 23 Tufts University on Friday night at Cousens Gymnasium.

Jaycie Rojik (Scituate, Mass.) paced the Camels with a game-high 14 points and added three steals. Molly Cronin (Wellesley, Mass.) also finished in double digits with 10 points, and Catie Donadio (Clinton, Conn.) led the charges on the glass with six rebounds.

Early in the opening quarter, a three by Rojik put Conn on top 5-4. However, the Jumbos scored the final 11 points of the stanza to lead 15-5 after one, and a three-pointer by Sophia Davis extended the margin to 13 early in the second. Tufts built the lead to as many as 20 in the half, ultimately settling in with a 29-12 advantage at the break.

Cronin's eight points highlighted a third quarter in which the Camels made up some ground, outscoring the Jumbos 14-11 in the period. In the fourth, Tufts put an end to any hopes of a Conn comeback by netting the first 10 points of the quarter.

Conn limited Tufts to just 34-percent shooting on the night but lost the battle of the boards by a 56-29 tally. Sofia Gonzalez led the Jumbos with 11 points.

Conn College (4-8 overall, 0-1 NESCAC) returns to action at Bates College on Sunday, January 8 at 3:00 p.m.
