  • Lele Wright  led the Blazers with 14 points, adding four rebounds and three assists.

How it Happened

  • The Blazers took the lead in the opening three minutes with a lay-up from Wright and a 3-pointer by Stanford, to go ahead  5-2.
  • Roanoke took its first lead of the game on a Jabryah Haverkamp driving lay-up, which gave the Maroons a 7-5 lead with 6:26 left in the first period. That basket was a part of a 20-2 run, put together by Roanoke over the final eight minutes of the first period, taking a 22-7 lead after one period. 
  • Roanoke went on a 7-0 run in the second period, led by Sayre Brandstatter's five points, giving the Maroons their largest lead of 33-12 with 6:14 remaining. 
  • Hood answered back with a 9-2 two-minute run, a result of three straight 3-pointers, including two  by Robinson. The surge helped the Blazers get back within striking distance with a 39-26 deficit heading into halftime. 
  • The Blazers managed to dwindle the Roanoke lead to 49-39 with a pair of free throws from Newson late in the third period, but the Maroons extended the lead to  54-39 by the end of the quarter. 
  • The Maroons scored 18 to the Blazers 11 in the final period to win the game by a score of 72-50.

  • Roanoke held the field goal percentage advantage 39 percent to the Blazers 29 percent. 
  • The Maroons outrebounded the Blazers 51-40 in the game. 
  • The Roanoke bench outscored Hood 36-15. 

For the Opponent

  • Morgan Micallef led the Maroons in points with 15, adding six rebounds and three steals. 
  • Peyton Kirchner scored 14 off the bench, shooting 6-for-11.

Notes

  • Hood falls to 4-7, while Roanoke which was receiving votes by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association improved to 7-0.
