WBB: Freshmen shine in loss to Keene State
KEENE, N.H. – The Plymouth State University women's basketball fell to Keene State College, 72-43, in a Little East Conference (LEC) game at Spaulding Gymnasium on Wednesday evening.
Freshman Sophie George (Meredith, N.H.) led all scorers with 18 points, while classmate Olivia Howard (Berwick, Maine) added nine points of her own. Senior Jalen Cook (Monkton, Vt.) also notched nine points for the Panthers in the losing effort.
Plymouth State dips to 4-4 (0-2 LEC), while the Owls improve to 3-5 (1-1 LEC).

How it Happened:
- The teams found themselves tied at 6-6 at the 5:42 mark of the opening quarter.
- PSU took the lead, 10-9, with 3:20 on the close in the first.
- On the back of an 11-0 run to close out the quarter, the Owls took a 20-10 lead after one.
- The Panthers were able to cut the deficit to six, 23-17, with 6:51 remaining in the half.
- Keene State opened the advantage back to double digits, scoring the final four points of the second quarter to take a 34-21 halftime lead.
- The Owls extended the lead to 16 points, 42-24, midway through the third.
- A three-pointer as time experience gave KSC a 53-32 advantage at the end of three.
- The Owls were able to tame any Plymouth State comeback attempt as they flew off with a comfortable win.
By the Numbers:
- The Panthers went 16-of-57 (28.1%) from the floor and 7-of-29 (24.1%) from three.
- Keene State outrebounded the Panthers, 52-31.
- PSU forced 20 turnovers, scoring 26 points off the Owls' miscues.
- Keene State led bench scoring 27-0 and held a 22-14 advantage in the paint.
- The Owls have won each of the last five meetings between the two teams.
