Inside the Box Score

  • Quarles recorded a team-high 16 points, going 3-for-3 from the 3-point line. The first year also dished out four assists and had two steals. 

  • Lele Wright and Tiffany Manning each had 14 points and five assists. 

  • Marlise Newson ended the evening with 11 points and five rebounds. 

How it Happened

  • Hood used a 9-0 run to take its first lead of the night on a Quarles 3-point jumper with 5:32 to make it 20-17. Hood outscored the Eagles 22-9 during the entire second quarter, taking a 31-22 lead into halftime.

  • Kayla Watkins-Harvey gave Hood its largest lead of the at 14 making a short jumper to push the score to 48-34 at 9:29 into the final quarter.  

  • Eastern responded with back-to-back threes s by Kayla Worsley-Wooten to cut the Blazers lead to 48-40 with just over seven minutes to go in the fourth quarter. 

  • Worlsey-Wooten got the Eagles within seven just two minutes later, hitting a driving lay-up bringing the score to 51-44.

  • The Blazers pulled away late in the final quarter capped off by a Wright driving lay-up with under a minute to go, that ended the scoring at 66-53.

  • The Eagles opened the game up on a 9-0 run that was led by Jeriyah Johnson and Taryn Woodson who accounted for all nine points.     

Analysis

  • The Blazers went 18-for-23 at the free throw line (78 percent), while Eastern struggled going 8-for-21 (38 percent).

  • Hood led in fast break points gathering 19 to the Eagles three.

  • The Blazers bench outscored Eastern's 24-11.

  • Eastern outrebounded the Blazers 33-30.

For the Opponent

  • Johnson led the Eagles with 21 points, going 4-for-8 from the 3-point line.

  • Woodson had 11 points and nine rebounds. 

  • Worsley-Wooten ended the evening with 10 points.

Notes

  • Hood improved to 3-5 (1-2), while Eastern dipped to 1-6 (0-2).
