Three different Violets scored 14 points as New York University's second-ranked women's basketball team held Connecticut College to 16.7 percent shooting (9-of-54) in a 91-27 victory at the Brooklyn Athletic Facility on Friday night.

The win was NYU's largest margin of victory since an 81-point (99-18) win over Sarah Lawrence College on November 16, 2019.

"For us it's just being disciplined defenders and really taking pride in getting stop after stop and stacking them together, because we're a transition team so if we can get stops we can score in transition," said head coach Meg Barber. "We held them to 17 percent shooting for the game so that's definitely the highlight for me."

NYU went up by double-digits, 16-4, on Erica Miller's three-pointer with 4:22 remaining in the first as part of a 20-2 run to close the quarter for a 30-6 lead after one.

The Violets won the second quarter 22-6, holding the visitors to 2-of-12 shooting in the frame for a 52-12 advantage at the break.

NYU maintained its dominance in the second half, outscoring the Camels 39-15 across the final two periods. Natalie Pence's layup with 47 seconds left in the game gave the Violets' their largest lead of the night to solidify the blowout.

"Last game it was the Erica Miller show, but we're not a one-person show," Barber added. "We had very balanced scoring tonight, it was great to see us getting going from the three and obviously Belle 7-of-10 shooting, took great shots tonight. Great bench production so all around the versatility of our offense really showed tonight."

Belle Pellecchia was everywhere in the win, finishing with 14 points (7-of-10 FG), seven assists, five steals and a pair of boards.

Natalie Bruns also had 14 points, hitting 5-of-7 shots, adding eight rebounds, three blocks and three helpers.

Rookie Caroline Peper matched her season high scoring 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor and 4-of-7 from deep, along with four boards and three assists.

Mary Kate Fahey chipped in nine points, Brooklyn Shelton had eight and Jenny Walker notched seven points and seven boards.

Thirteen Violets scored in the victory as the team shot 52.2 percent (36-of-69) from the field and 44.1 percent (15-of-34). NYU scored 42 bench points, 36 points in the paint, 34 points off turnovers and 23 fastbreak points.

Women's basketball returns to the court next Sunday, December 11, on the road at Tufts University in Medford, MA.
