UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - November 12, 2022 - Hiram's early-season grit stayed true to form on Saturday against John Carroll, as the team tallied 17 offensive rebounds and forced 22 turnovers in a 79-63 loss to close out the JCU Tip-Off Classic.

Senior Haley Thompson had a game-high 21 points and her second career game with at least 7 steals (8 steals at Ohio Wesleyan on January 5, 2022). Sophomore Brooke Hickman added 16 points on 7-10 shooting from the field.

The Terriers had their biggest run when they outscored the Blue Streaks, 11-2, for the final 2:53 of the second quarter, with four different players scoring during that span. Lizzy Scharer accounted for 4 of those 11 points, which set a new career-high for the freshman.

Thompson would emerge on the defensive end in the third quarter, tallying 4 steals and scoring 4 fast-break points off those takeaways. She was steady throughout the game on both sides of the ball, drawing contact to earn half of her team's trips to the free-throw line (12 of 24) and committing 0 defensive fouls (JCU went 2-3 from the line).

John Carroll pulled away in the fourth quarter thanks to 6 points on layups from Kaelyn Underwood. The Terriers couldn't pull within single digits for the final 8:40 of the contest.

Hiram has over two weeks before its next game against Thiel on Monday, November 28 at 7 p.m. at Price Gymnasium.
