HARRISONBURG, Va. – Coming off a slim loss on Saturday, the EMU women's basketball team had to rebound, pun intended, quickly as they took on Wilson College in a Sunday matinee.

The Royals took a 15-point lead into the half and never looked back as they picked up a 64-55 win over the Phoenix.

Records: EMU 2-1, 0-0 ODA | Wilson 1-1 0-0 CSAC

Highlights

First Quarter

Wilson took a quick 2-0 lead before Trinity Washington tied things with a jumper and Lauryn Moore gave EMU a lead with a layup. EMU continued to hold a slight lead, with Wilson answering each Royals basket, and eventually pulling within one, at 12-11. With EMU leading 14-11, Wilson hit a pair of free throws to cut EMU's lead to 14-13 after one.

Second Quarter

The second quarter was dominated by the Royals as they outscored Wilson 18-4, holding the Phoenix to just 15% from the field. With EMU up 17-13, Caris Lucas hit a pair of threes to put EMU ahead 25-13. The teams traded baskets to 25-17, but EMU ended the quarter on a 7-0 run with points from Jayda JonesKK Johnson and Price.

Third Quarter

Brii Redfearn extended the Royals lead to 17 with a layup to start the half and EMU was eventually able to push their advantage to 21 with six straight from Redfearn, Washington and Mya Hamlet. The Phoenix, however, used a 14-8 run in the final five minutes of the quarter to cut into the Royals lead and trail 48-35 into the fourth.

Fourth Quarter

Wilson's offense worked to start the fourth, trying to bring the Phoenix back, but after they had cut the deficit to nine, a Hamlet layup and a Price three sent the lead back to double digits and put the game out of reach as the Royals offense continued to answer, hitting six of their free throws down the stretch to put the game away.

Statistical Leaders

Redfearn – 11 points, 17 rebounds
Hamlet, Price – 13 points apiece
