MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Women's Basketball team is headed to the NACC Tournament semifinals after a 70-62 win over Aurora on Wednesday night. After being tied at halftime, the Eagles outscored the Spartans in the second half to advance to Friday's semifinal round at Wisconsin Lutheran.

EAGLES 70, SPARTANS 62
- The senior duo of Abby Shane and Diamond Pikulyk made sure their careers wouldn't come to an end on Wednesday as they combined for 27 of the Eagles (13-12) 41 points in the second half. Shane caught fire from deep, making 3-of-4 from 3-point range en route to 17 second-half points. She finished with a game-high 19 points. Pikulyk added 10 after the break and finished with 16 points and nine rebounds.

- With the game tied 37-37 with 6:50 left in the third quarter, Edgewood College was the first team to make a run in the second half, a 10-2 spurt to go up 47-39 with 3:45 left. Aurora (14-10) answered to bring the score to 47-45 with 1:46 left and the Eagles ended up taking a 51-47 lead into the final quarter.

- Shane started the fourth quarter with a 3-point make and with 8:18 left a jumper by Guerrero gave Edgewood College its first double-digit lead at 58-48. The Spartans once again fought back, getting within three points, 65-62, with 1:20 left, but a Pikulyk make with 57 seconds and three Shane free throws down the stretch secured the win for the Eagles.

- Edgewood College shot 41 percent from the floor and committed 22 turnovers, but the Eagles were outstanding in slowing down the NACC's highest-scoring offense. Aurora came in averaging just over 80 points a game and the Eagles held them to their second-lowest point total of the season.

- Claudia Fierias secured a season-best 13 rebounds for Edgewood College, who won the rebounding battle, 49-41. The Eagles also shared the ball better with 20 assists compared to nine for the Spartans. Fierias and Emma Klein had five assists, while Shane added four. Vivian Guerrero and Pikulyk each tallied nine rebounds.

- Aurora was led by Eliot Dojutrek, who scored 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Crystal Rios added 13 points, while Victoria Perry chipped in 11 off the bench.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Shane loves when tournament time rolls around. She is now 11-for-23 from 3-point (47.8 percent) from 3-point range. She likes the tournament even better with fans in the stands as if you take out last year's NACC North Tournament, Shane is 11-for-17 from 3-point range (64.7 percent).

- The Eagles are now 4-0 in NACC Tournament home games under head coach Chaia Huff. They defeated Wisconsin Lutheran in 2020, Concordia Wisconsin last year, and now have wins over Illinois Tech and Aurora this season. Edgewood College was one possession away from hosting the semifinal round, but top-seeded Wisconsin Lutheran was able to hold off No. 8 Lakeland in Wednesday's quarterfinal.
