BELOIT, Wis. - Hungering for a victory entering a busy final week of the regular season, the Grinnell College women's basketball team came through in a big way.

The Pioneers snapped a three-game losing streak Tuesday night, holding off a pesky Beloit College squad 63-60 in overtime.

Grinnell, 8-12 overall and 5-8 in the Midwest Conference, sealed the win when Erin Lillis '24 drove the left side of the lane and scooped the ball up and through the net with 8 seconds left, making it a three-point lead. Beloit missed a 3-pointer and layup down the stretch to preserve the victory.

Lillis scored 22 points for the Pioneers and Sofia Ahooja '22 tallied 11. Payton Hall '25 added 13 rebounds and Sara Booher '25 had a career-best eight. Ahooja also had four assists and Hall a career-high four steals.

Grinnell blocked a season-high eight shots, with Hall, Lillis and Booher having two blocks each. The totals of Hall and Lillis were career-bests. Additionally, Grinnell had a season-best 53 rebounds.

The Pioneers led 12-6 after one period before the Buccaneers came within 22-18 by halftime. Grinnell began pulling away in the third period, twice going up by 11 before settling for a 40-37 lead entering the fourth stanza.

It was a battle in the fourth period, with Nicole Ware's '25 free throws with 22 seconds left giving Grinnell a 55-52 lead. However, Beloit made a 3-pointer after that to force overtime.

Beloit led 58-57 midway through the extra period before Lillis put the Pioneers ahead for good with a jumper at the 2:23 mark. Grinnell forced two missed shots over the next minute before Ahooja scored to make it 61-58.

The Buccaneers then closed within a point but twice after that Grinnell forced Beloit into two missed shots. Lillis followed with her basket to secure the win.

The same two teams square off Thursday in Grinnell, beginning at 5:30 p.m. It is the final home game of the season for the Pioneers.
